In life we all gather a few heroes, right? At least I hope we all have a few people that we admire.
For me, I have a handful of people that I have met throughout my life that have been inspiring, helpful, kind and in some instances brutally honest!
I have been a reluctant voice over artist for a long time, not because I haven’t found work or work hasn’t found me but because my personality is like the big playful dog who loves to be around people instead of in a studio getting things done. So, it is a real act of discipline for me to stay in a studio and accomplish the work I do.
From time to time I want to be critiqued and this past week a really incredibly talented Voice Over Artist listened to my work and was kind enough to provide me with some feedback. On top of the feedback the person was incredibly encouraging and that meant a lot to me.
A kind word, a word of direction or notice of your effort by another is a real boost and I am ready to go to the next level.
I’m a big fan of Mark Twain. Yeah, I know there are other writers who are more respected and stretched the conversation of our culture further but I like a lot of his simple common sense.
One of my favorite quotes from Twain is “Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see” and he is right.
Today so many people showered me with kind words, actions and let me know I contributed to making their lives better and that made me feel great.
