This is a project I voiced a couple of weeks ago.

The Phone, The Phone Is Ringing…

For those of you who may not know, the title of this post is based on a snappy little song sang by a a trio that includes a hamster, turtle and little duckling. They are Linny, Tuck and Ming Ming aka The Wonder Pets and in my house they are ROCK STARS as my two little boys instantly smile, clap their hands and rock with the opening theme of the show.

Ironically, they are also good predictors of activity here in the Daniels household too as our phone IS RINGING, SERIOUSLY and instead of finding an animal in trouble on the other end of the line, I am finding folks who are needing their books narrated, their sales script read or their commercial voiced!  And it is great.

Two new clients have made me the host and producer of their podcasts…both of which sound like really cool projects.

One podcast will be a monthly offering about my beloved Cincinnati Reds, a project that was initiated over 5 years ago will be full of player interviews, game analysis and A TON OF REALLY COOL SURPRISES!  More details to come as they are available.

The second podcast will be about RC Planes…which I am just learning about but it’s ok, because that is who this podcast is for.

Maybe you are a parent looking to get your kids involved in an activity that you can do as a family?  Maybe something that will allow them to use their mind, hands and imagination?  If so,  RC Planes are a great adventure to embark on, together! And it doesn’t need to cost an arm and a leg either…so stay tuned details will be forthcoming very soon!

More good news is just around the corner as I am in talks with another group about hosting their podcast as well but I cannot share any details on that one yet as the ink is not yet dry on the paper.

I’m a Voice Over Actor!

It’s a common oversight by most people who don’t realize that voice over artists are essentially, actors. I think it is because the only manifestation of what we do is what you hear, it is impossible for anyone outside of the industry to know that we invest in our craft by taking acting classes, vocal training and study the various techniques offered by voice acting coaches so we can deliver the subtle nuances that make up a great delivery of your script.

If you’re looking for a voice over talent to work with and you are not using an agency, make sure you get to hear their work and ask yourself these questions…

• When evaluating the work does it meet your expectations?
• When you close your eyes do you feel like you are PART of the read or simply hearing someone talk?
• Is it how you want others to find out about your product, business or cause?

Something I like to do is to provide a custom demo for potential clients. The process is quick and easy and it costs nothing.

A potential client will contact me and provide me with their script. I go through the script marking my notes and then record a voice only demo.

The entire process from the time I receive the script to when I deliver it to my potential client takes under 6 hours, depending on my work load when I receive it. By doing this you get to hear how my voice will match up with your project. If you like my read, we discuss what sort of production you need including music, sound effects, etc and I produce the entire spot.

When I first started doing this I was a bit apprehensive because I didn’t want someone taking my work and using it without paying me. I am happy to tell you that NOT ONCE since I have been doing business this way have I been “taken”. How do I know this? every demo I have done has been picked up by the client I have demoed for, so it works out great for you and it works out even better for me and my family. I also think the process has made me a better voice actor and businessman because it really forces the ACTOR/ARTIST in me to focus and not chase rabbits.
