By now I am sure most of you are aware of the video of the elderly Korean Drummer providing more than just a back-beat to a lovely young wedding singer.
We pick it up with the wedding singer just getting to the first punchline of “My Way” when 72 year old drummer Kwon Soon Keun takes over.
If you are like me the first thing you did was laugh and sort of dismiss this as a drummer who had grown frustrated with playing weddings…turns out, he has been doing this for years.
Usually when you watch a band, the focal point is the singer, right? Not with this band…or dare I say any band that has ever had Kwon Soon Keun as a member of it.
I think he is a genius because his bands have the same elements involved…Eye Candy singer, guitarist and keyboard player…all of which are marginal in talent and easily replaceable
With that in mind it makes me think that it would be better to have him placed in the front of the stage, let the singer and other band members be backdrops and promote him, right?
So what does that have to do with you and your project???
- Make sure your message is on point.
- Make sure you have what you’re really promoting out front.
- Make sure your script is telling the right story and that the voice providing your voice over is saying it in the right way.
Even though Mr Keun is very entertaining, you have to wonder how many of us got bored watching all the marginal and crappy “talent” he hid behind before we were able to see the “REAL MESSAGE” which most of us didn’t discover until he was 72!
