Once
upon a time...I
was in shape!
Like just about
everyone else on the planet I've gained a few pounds
over the years and I'm tired of being overweight and
in pain. As a result, I'm not making a resolution. I'm
making a decision to change my life, improve my
health and to flat out FEEL BETTER!
MY STORY
Growing up I was pretty active.
REALLY active when you consider the median age of my
neighbors was right at 72.8 years old...people in my
neighborhood were so old that I thought Ben-Gay was a
cologne...False teeth clacking when talking was a
status symbol...you get the idea, people in my
neighborhood were old. So now at the age of 39 11/12
years old I feel like I am OLD.
After I got married I was working in
radio and sat in a studio for hours each week. Now,
much of my time is spent writing new comedy material
so again, I am sitting. The hours are a bit different
so I eat late at night, add all of that to being hit
by a drunk driver back in 1999 where I sustained back
injuries I will have for the rest of my life and the
weight has really come on.
According to my last physical my
optimum weight is 180 lbs. At the time I was 70 lbs
overweight, tipping the scales at 252 lbs. That was
not my heaviest weight. The heaviest I got was 278 lbs
so at the time of my physical I had lost 26 lbs. Since
then I have lost another 20 lbs. For those of you who
studied "Fuzzy Math" or are having
trouble keeping up with the adjusted number...my
current weight is 232 lbs. That means I have 52 lbs to
lose to reach my goal weight of 180 lbs.
So how am I going
to lose all this weight?
I am going to watch what I eat.
I don't mean I am going to watch it
go into my mouth, I am going to improve the quality of
what I eat and also take proper supplements to help me
make sure I get the proper nutrition. I am going to
abstain from eating ALL MEAT outside of DEEP
WATER FISH. I am going to reduce FRIED
FOODS and increase the amount of RAW
VEGETABLES and FRUITS. On top of all of that I
am going to exercise for at least 30 minutes a day, WALKING
ON A TREADMILL.
I may have an advantage on you in
that I have a very smart wife who is very
knowledgeable regarding nutrition and dietary
assessment. So, she is going to be evaluating where I
am at and what I need based on an in depth
questionnaire that will determine my nutritional +/-.
From that questionnaire she will identify the
supplements and foods that are best for me to help me
reach my goal weight in Six (6) months.
Being somewhat realistic I am going
to start this on January 15th, 2007. I want you to
