The LA Times is reporting today that veteran Comedienne/Radio Host/TV Personality Whoopi Goldberg is the "chosen one" to take over for Rosie O’Donnell on the ABC morning TV Talk Show, THE VIEW.
I think this is a losing situation.
I may have only watched The View two or three times before but I know Rosie was obviously a controversial part of the show that drove the ratings through the roof. I also know that Whoopi has a reputation as being a comedienne with a sharp wit who is vastly opinionated.
Many viewers may be looking for Whoopi to follow Rosie’s lead and be the one who mixes it up with guests, co-hosts and non-affiliated billionaires. That ain’t going to happen as ABC is the one who pulled the reigns in and if it does happen, people will simply call it out as an imitation of what Rosie did.
And alas, The View will be that mid-morning time waster with no teeth…again.
