On Hold Messages: Important Part of the Sales Process

A couple of blogs ago I wrote that one of the best things you can do with your on hold messages is to let your clients SPEAK FOR YOU meaning, have them record their high praise of you and your business and then play that back for people to hear while they are on hoLd as part of your on hold message system.

I got an email from Anne, a Realtor in Seattle who asked me “How do I gather these recording from clients and then add them to my on hold system?”

To best answer I’ll give all of you a few tips on how to collect your recommendations, referrals and words of high praise.

1) Go to your local electronics store like Radio Shack, Best Buy or HH Gregg and ask them to direct you to their phone recorders. Most of these devices are under $20 and you can go directly from your cell phone headset jack to a mini-recorder or even better yet to your computer.

2) You could set up a toll free number for your clients to call specifically for the purpose of collecting their referral messages.  There are several services to be found online who offer this service for a nominal monthly fee and once you are satisfied with the voice messages you have received then you simply harvest the audio to your computer or recording device and cancel your account.

3) The least expensive that is also potentially the path of least resistance is to simply setup another “mail box” in your on hold messages system.

All three options are low cost and easy to set up.
