Messages On Hold, Where’s The Comedy?!?!
A couple people have already contacted me about my new site and asked me the same question…Where’s the comedy website?
In the summer of 2002 I launched my fulltime comedy career, like any honest comedian will tell you it has it’s ups and downs and at the end of the day, you REALLY have to want to be a comedian to put up with the downs. For me, those were being on the road and get this…performing the stand up. The ups were meeting some of the people at the events, writing the comedy and at the end of the day, giving it a shot. But if I am being honest, my heart was never really in it.
Since 1986 I was in radio in some form or another. I worked my way up the ranks to eventually help build a station. I also have since 1986 provided my voice for messages on hold, radio and tv commercials and audio books among other things. I’ve never stopped doing this and find that providing top notch voice overs to clients of all sizes for every imaginable project under the sun is what I really enjoy a lot more.
It allows me to perform while staying in the background.
So the next question that came my way was “Are you quitting comedy cold turkey?” and the answer is a yes and no. I am currently talking to a venue about setting up a once a month room where I can exercise my comedic demon and a few of my friends who perform stand up comedy have asked me to help them write some material, which I LOVE DOING.
So, there it is. After my currently scheduled commitment I will not be seeking new stand up comedy bookings.
Starting RIGHT NOW I am looking for any and all voice over opportunities that you may have or that you may know of.
Over the next few days this site will get a few more bells and whistles and also I will give you more information on the types of projects I am best suited for and all that jazz.
